Select Board · Meeting of June 3, 2026
PEMBROKE — The Pembroke Select Board voted unanimously to raise the municipal trash and recycling fee from $440 to $480 a year starting in fiscal 2027. Town Manager William Chenard said the increase, about $9.23 a week, reflects a 4 percent rise in hauling costs and a 2.5 percent rise in tipping costs, plus the sharp penalty for recycling contamination, which he put at 23 percent townwide. Chenard said a private hauling contract would cost residents $629 a year versus the town's $480 rate.
Board member Daniel W Trabucco said he had been "contacted by people who wanted me to vote against the raise tonight." The board also rescheduled the Pembroke Chamber of Commerce's Taste of Pembroke event to October 10 and approved a slate of annual committee reappointments, including David McPhillips as Veterans' Neglected Graves Officer.
