Pembroke Select Board voted to put two South Shore Vocational Technical School funding questions on the May 16 ballot, including a $2 million property tax override. Town Manager William Chenard told the board a snow and ice removal deficit has reached nearly $1.1 million, the largest in more than a decade, which he called "the big elephant in the room." Health insurance costs are projected to rise 10 percent to $11.116 million. Average single-family taxpayers would see a combined $423 annual increase from the override and debt exclusion, Chenard said.
The board also accepted a $7,000 donation from the Pembroke Foundation for Veterans Memorial Park, approved two one-day liquor licenses, accepted Allison Glennon's resignation from the Historic District Commission and declared a vacancy on the new Affordable Housing Trust.
