Pembroke Conservation Commission Continues Barker Street Culvert Compliance, Approves Two Well and Cable Rulings

PEMBROKE -- June 6, 2024, Pembroke Conservation Commission advanced multiple environmental filings and held a town DPW project to post-construction standards at its June 6 meeting. The commission approved negative three determinations for two projects, a Massachusetts Electric Company underground cable replacement along Edgewater Drive involving roughly 9,000 linear feet of horizontal directional drilling, and the abandonment of GP Well 1 at 356 Center Street, a municipal water source offline for years due to iron and manganese contamination. An order of conditions was issued for a proposed garage at 109 Pleasant Street. The commission also continued a certificate of compliance request for the herring run culvert replacement at 211 Barker Street, citing erosion on upstream wing walls, gaps in downstream riprap, and the commission's unmet requirement that grass be cut at least twice before compliance is certified, a standard that drew pushback from project engineer Jamie Villette of Environmental Partners, who said the requirement was not clearly stated in the order of conditions. Two certificates of compliance were issued for subdivision lots at Carpoolwood Estates and Bristol Estates.
