Conservation board clears three wetlands permits

Conservation · Meeting of September 2, 2026

Pembroke Conservation Commission clears three wetlands permits and sets a September 5 restoration start. Engineer Brad Holmes of ECR and John Zimmer of South River Environmental presented the long-running 98 Baker Street restoration, with Zimmer recommending a sequencing plan and no new plantings until spring. A commission member identified as Rick pressed the pair on a roughly 17.5-foot well being pulled from the wetland, warning of a "hole being punched through a clay layer" that could keep draining groundwater; Zimmer said the area would "basically stabilize back to what it was." The commission also approved a pool-to-in-ground conversion at 25 James Way, a cesspool-to-treatment-system septic upgrade at 79 Adams Avenue about 85 feet from Oldham Pond, and a negative determination for a Title 5 replacement at 85 Harvard Street.

All votes were unanimous.
