Select Board · Meeting of July 1, 2026
Pembroke swore in Wendy LaPierre as its first female police chief, then watched its Select Board erupt over agenda transparency. Retired Chief Rick McDonald administered the oath after LaPierre's 28 years on the force. Later, member Steve Ciciotti confronted Chair John G.
Brown Jr. over Brown's removal of "old and new business" from recent agendas, calling it "a removal of an accountability mechanism." Brown said he acted because members had been "a Gatling gun against the town manager." Vice Chair Sean Keegan told Ciciotti he "did not get elected... to go after the town manager." The board also split 3-2 on appointing Aaron Surdham to the Historic District Commission over a residency-reference concern, approved transferring Dish's Route 53 Tavern's liquor license to new owner Erik Daigle, and agreed to restore old and new business to the July 15 agenda.
