Pembroke Public Safety Building Project Returns to Budget Ahead of Spring Bids

PEMBROKE — December 4, 2024 — Pembroke's long-planned public safety building has swung from $1.5 million over budget to $51,000 under budget, with construction bids set for April 2025. Allison Maha of Vertex Companies LLC, the project's owner's project manager, told the Select Board at its December 4 meeting that design development documents and reconciled estimates have brought the project — which includes a roughly 38,000-square-foot headquarters and a 9,300-square-foot fire substation on Monroe and School streets — within the town-approved budget without cutting any programmatic elements. The board discussed structuring the proposed auxiliary storage building as a tiered alternate to maximize bidding flexibility. The board also voted unanimously to renew eligible Pembroke liquor licenses for 2025, with Town Manager Bill Chenard crediting staff members Sabrina, Angela, Pinta Preet, and Deputy Shea for clearing all outstanding violations and debts before the vote.
