Planning Board sets Oct. 5 hearing on battery storage bylaw
Planning Board · Meeting of August 10, 2026
Pembroke Planning Board sets October 5 hearing on battery storage bylaw, punts housing bylaw to spring. Jason Desrosier of the Old Colony Planning Council told the board roughly 700 to 1,000 housing units could come online in Pembroke within three years, with fair market rent already running "22 percent above the national average" at $2,000 for a one-bedroom. Vice Chair Alysha Siciliano-Perry, working on the battery energy storage bylaw, warned the proposed 300-foot setback "will never fly" with the Attorney General's Office without more precedent, noting "we don't have 300 foot setbacks from a gas station." The board voted unanimously to accept Chair Andrew Wandell's resignation from the Community Preservation Committee and appointed Heather Tremblay to replace him.
Members deferred a residential ADU zoning amendment to Spring Town Meeting, citing a lack of data on permits issued.
