Pembroke Select Board Clears Path for 26-Article Town Meeting on May 14
PEMBROKE — May 8, 2024 — Pembroke Select Board previews a 26-article town meeting warrant set for Tuesday, May 14, at 7 p.m. at the high school. Town Moderator Steve Barbaria and Advisory Committee Chair Linda Shea joined the board to walk through procedures, confirming that the Select Board and Advisory Committee are in agreement on both the operating budget and the wage and classification plan, which includes upward adjustments for low-wage positions such as lifeguards. A consent calendar grouping Articles 6, 7, 8, 19, and 20 will require a four-fifths vote to adopt, and Article 5, the capital budget, will need a two-thirds majority due to dual funding sources. A citizen's petition granting the Firehouse Pantry right of first refusal at the Council on Aging building carries no board recommendation and is technically non-binding. The board also unanimously approved a door-to-door solicitation permit for Power Home Remodeling and a farm stand permit for David Nash at 47 Mattakeesett Street before adjourning.
