Pembroke Select Board Approves Winter Race, Food License, and New Appointments

PEMBROKE — June 12, 2024 — Pembroke Select Board accepts $710,242 ARPA grant and approves winter road race in 34-minute session. Plymouth County Commissioner Greg Hanley presented the $710,242.86 check under the county's American Rescue Plan Act program, praising the town's plan to use the funds for revenue replacement as "the best and highest use" he had seen across 27 communities. The board unanimously approved a new common victuallers license for Stephen Waugh's Smoke and Sizzle barbecue kitchen at the Old Colony Sportsman's Club, 159 Forest Street, and green-lit South Shore Race Management's Winter Lights 5K for December 7 along a downtown route, with roughly 1,000 runners expected to park at the high school and bus in. Frazier Townley was appointed to the Affordable Housing Committee following the resignation of Jane Ford, and Planning Board Chair Alicia Siciliano-Perry was appointed to the General Bylaw Review Committee. A proposed mandatory volunteer policy was tabled pending a June 26 appearance by Town Counsel.
