Pembroke School Committee Candidate Prioritizes Vocational Access, Fiscal Restraint

PEMBROKE — May 2, 2025 — A Pembroke School Committee candidate outlined a platform built around restoring vocational education access, launching a new special education program, and improving building maintenance at a May 2 community access TV forum. The candidate, a veterinarian and parent of four Pembroke students, said the town has been effectively locked out of South Shore Vocational Technical High School in Hanover since approximately 2021 due to state admissions rule changes, and that restoring access would require both a debt exclusion for a planned new building and a Proposition 2.5 override for operating costs. She cited the flexibility of an existing Marshfield agreement with the school — including a three-year rolling-average pricing structure and the ability to return unused seats — as evidence the financial terms are workable. She also called for launching a substantially separate special education program that could generate tuition revenue from surrounding towns and for greater data transparency on the district's website. Election Day is May 17 at the Pembroke Community Center, with polls closing at 5 p.m.
